Meet some of Clarity’s team of specialist Consultants
Martin Alderton BA, CQSW, MA – Managing Consultant
Martin has more than twenty years’ experience as a busy stress and trauma consultant. Previously he managed a multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Team and was the founder-manager of a local authority’s disaster response team.
Martin has provided training and direct psychological support to organisations across the UK, Europe and the rest of the world including Asia, Africa, Australia and both North and South America.
As a veteran of more than 500 incidents Martin’s experience is world class. He has appeared on the BBC, ITV and Sky Television and is a regular contributor to BBC Radio.

Mark Bradley BSc, P.G.C.Psych, MSCPsych – Associate Director
Mark has worked all over the world providing psychological support within the public, private and charitable sectors. He began his career working with disadvantaged children in the UK, going on to work in the USA before volunteering for a six month programme with Medicins Sans Frontieres training psychologists in Indonesia following the Tsunami.
In recent years Mark has provided incident response to blue chip clients in a diverse range of industries. The locations he has delivered training in have recently included Afghanistan and Iraq.
Jane Shackman BA, PGCE, CQSW – Trauma Consultant
Jane has many years’ experience of providing psychological support following trauma in the UK and overseas. She has recently worked in Egypt and Kenya for Clarity. In the UK she has worked for Cruse, Freedom from Torture and the Ministry of Justice amongst others.
As well as her current consultancy and training roles she is a member of the Red Cross psycho-social support team and has provided invaluable support to the victims of the Grenfell disaster.
In addition to the on-site support she provides the quality of Jane’s telephone-based support skills are particularly helpful to Clarity’s customers.
Adam Kirtley – Specialist Training Consultant
Adam has over 30 years experience in Broadcasting, specialising in Business, Financial and Consumer journalism. His excellent training courses in Media and Presentation skills and Crisis Communications benefit from his relaxed and humorous style as well as his tremendous depth of experience.
Since 1996 Adam has trained CEOs, Government ministers and senior managers in blue chip businesses, as well as Public Sector and Third Sector organisations in Europe, the USA, the Middle East and Africa.
Adam can regularly be heard on BBC Radio 4 and 5 and Local Radio. He also contributes to BBC World and The News Channel.
Dawn Haworth MSC – Trauma Consultant
Dawn is a UKCP Registered and EMDR Accredited Psychotherapist who specialises in the effects of trauma. In addition to her incident management skills, numerous qualifications and many years of experience providing both face to face and telephone-based support Dawn is the current Registrar for the NLPtCA – an association of NLP Practitioners.
In recent years Dawn’s experience has included supporting groups of travellers following the tragic Budapest capsize and after a tragic drowning in Greece, both in 2019; terrorist incidents in Manchester and Brussels; a murder in a UK supermarket and in the UK Houses of Parliament.
